First off I was not real happy with the way the new box opens.  You actually
have to tear some perforated cardboard at the rear corners.  Oh well It's still
good enough for later storage.
In looking at the parts in the bags I discovered a really long axle.  Turned
out to be 32 studs long!  I don't think I've ever seen one over 16 studs before.
wow!  I also noticed there are more studded beams than I've seen in a while,
glad to see those still hanging around!
The set is in numbered bags, 1-10, and a couple of plain bags with a few
beams and such in them.  The first 6 or 7 build the truck chassis and cab which
is common to both models like 8448. You don't have to completely dismantle the
set to rebuild as the cherry picker.  I'm not thrilled by this, I wish the alt.
model had a different platform altogether.
I'm really looking forward to starting construction tomorrow.

Took me six hours to build this beast (I always had a rate of ~300 parts per
hour when it comes to Technic models).

I’m 100% sure I’d followed the building instructions correctly, and in fact have
a perfect and fully functional crane truck. The only modification I’ve done was
to add the second tubing to prevent the crane from crashing down when lowering
it.

So why are there so many spare parts? (liftarms and axles in various sizes,
bushes and even one gear wheel).
