Thanks, I did do that and it works so so, but not great (I stil have to very
carefully partially open the switch so it leaks slowly) but certainly better
than before. What's wierd is that there is actually an extra tee in the set,
although not enough tubing. Almost as though they wanted to make this option
available, or forgot to do it.
The whole thing is very strange. It seems that this problem with the boom
crashing down is a real issue that other people are having. This significantly
detracts from the playbility of the set. It is obvious when one builds the set
and plays with it for the first time. Why would this not have been addressed at
the set design stage - so much effort went to designing the entire set, so much
money spent on it, the "biggest technic set ever", and a little thing like this
marrs it significantly.
Maybe LEGO can issue an erratum on fixing the problem - I hear they do this
sometimes. Would it be worthwhile to take this up with the company? Where would
I direct the information?
