The 32-long axle first came out with the minifig hockey sets as control sticks,
then as the slide pole for 7240 file station. Before this the longest axle is
12. Lego once said on their site that axle longer than 12 studs would not be
strong enough... Either they're lying or they found a way around it.

The first 6 builds the chassis. Bags #7-9 for superstructure, #10 for the boom.

8436 has 3 attachment to its chassis too - so I think this is a trend.

I sold one to United States for US$300 shipped. I can get one shipped to you for
about the same.
I'm going to build mine real soon.
