Not to mention the fact that Titanic opened up in December to very little
competition. It also had almost a whole year until video release to keep
people going to the theatres.
The Phantom Menace has a whole slew of summer movies to deal with and the
video is rumored to come out in Nov. for Christmas giving it only a 6 and a
half month run.
Merchandising on the otherhand, now that's a whole new story.
