        Re: Ewok Holocaust —Jeromy Irvine
I've visited this site before, and while it's an interesting interpretation, the author makes two major mistakes: 1) Trying to impose known physical limitations on unknown technology and movie special effects. We all know that movie props and (...) (23 years ago, 25-Jan-01, to lugnet.starwars)

         Re: Ewok Holocaust —Eric Joslin
(...) This is of course a problem. But it's something that can be ignored for humour's sake. (...) ??? Actually, carefully reading the article shows that he addresses the point of debris vs. vapor- first, vaporisation doesn't get rid of the matter, (...)           Re: Ewok Holocaust —Frank Filz
(...) The point is that the matter is matter. It doesn't just disappear, it has to go somewhere. If it is part of an object which is in an artificial orbit around the planet, it will fall to the planet (unless it actually has more energy than (...)           Re: Ewok Holocaust —Will Lutz
The Earth gets hits by tons and tons of dust all the time yet it doesn't seem to bother her none :) Yep, that's right we are gaining weight all the time... of coarse the last correction of the gravitation constant knocked some 6,000,000,000,000 (...)           Re: Ewok Holocaust —Bryan Hodges
(...) Not only dust but our planet is constantly barraged by meteors and space junk. Most of the stuff burns up in the atmosphere without any detrimental effects, the stuff that does hit the Earth is typically so small that it causes very little (...)            Re: Ewok Holocaust —Mark Sandlin
(...) True, but the Death Star blew up over a small area, so a tightly concentrated area of vaporized Death Star might be a bit different in effect. IANAS (I Am Not A Scientist) so I can't say for certain. (...) True, but the DS wouldn't be anywhere (...) (23 years ago, 26-Jan-01, to lugnet.starwars)

          Re: Ewok Holocaust —James Simpson
(...) But the question is whether or not the explosion would hurt the Ewoks. No doubt all of that cosmic dust over centuries is beneficial to the Earth...it adds to soil fertility and the nutrient balance of the oceans. From a geologic/ (...)           Re: Ewok Holocaust —Will Lutz
(...) I don't think it would... first the orbit of such a space station would be several 1,000's of miles from the moon/planet. You would do this so that the gravitational effects of the planet/moon would not hurt your station and you could keep it (...) (23 years ago, 27-Jan-01, to lugnet.starwars)

         Re: Ewok Holocaust —James Simpson
(...) Ah! A subject near and dear to my heart: I'm afraid that I'm going to have to play the tried-but-true "Lucas Plows Through a Self-Made Plot Conundrum Like a Bull in a China Shop" card. Lucas really got himself in it thick on that one. Not sure (...) (23 years ago, 25-Jan-01, to lugnet.starwars)

Ewok Holocaust / Jedi Death —Sean Harrington
So, I guess laying Vader to rest on a funeral pyre on Endor was redundant... Luke - "Hey, Han! Got a match?" Han - "Yeah, my butt and your face." Luke - "Naaah, I mean so's I can get rid of my old man's corpse." Han - "Just use your robot hand. It's (...) (23 years ago, 25-Jan-01, to lugnet.starwars)

(...) LOL! (...) (Warning: opinionated rant to follow): Yes and no...in retrospect, the Obi-Wan disappearance was a little bit corny, but, it was filmed in 1976, so it's kind of excusable (they could only do so much with technology.)          Re: Ewok Holocaust —Frank Filz
(...) I'd challenge you to find much SF which you couldn't find gaping holes in. Star Wars is no worse than movies in general, and perhaps better.           Re: Ewok Holocaust —James Simpson
(...) I disagree with you. Chapter I. ANH was a marvelous epic. Sure, the plot was nothing innovative - basically a new version of the classic hero/redemption plot - but it was good nonetheless. It was even Art. II. Empire came along, and it had a (...)          Re: Ewok Holocaust —Erik Olson
(...) Ooh, you got me going there. Lucas had a story, which he shared with Leigh Brackett over several days in late 1977.
