You're even nicer than I was. I let him go into all the wonderful detail.
I said, "You really don't want to run an Ewok." He told me all about why
he'd be different.

I'd just talked to another player. He was playing an Imperial turned Rebel,
who was in the garrison on Endor that got trounced by Ewoks. On the one
hand, he saw just who was the real light in the universe. On the other
hand, watching his unit get clobbered by small furry things haunted him
for life. I was gonna have all sorts of fun plaguing him with the equivalent
of tribbles. The chance for character interaction and development was
great; nobody can trust him, but his knowledge of Imperial procedure would
be incredibly useful. Great idea for a character. You can do a hell of a
lot with that. He's not overly powerful, but he's not boring. I wanted
this character in my campaign.

And I kept talking to the would-be Ewok. I said Ewoks have terrible
survivability, bring another character, and we'd decide the day we
started the game. I told him that nobody likes Ewoks. I told him
that I don't like Ewoks. I told him, to his face, that I thought
he was getting munchkin on me. I told him party chemistry would be
lousy. I told him he'd never forgive me for what I wasn't going to
do. I told him, really I did.

So there he is Whatzit the Ewok jibber-jabbering with his buddy played
by another character when they meet the third character of the party.

Who promptly wastes the Ewok.

(...) You're a darn sight nicer than I was about it. "I have an idea for an Ewok character". "No." "But it's a good idea! See, he stowed--" "No." "Wait till you hear the whole idea! See--" "No." "But--" "No." "Why not?" "Ewoks are annoying." "But (...) (23 years ago, 25-Jan-01, to lugnet.starwars)
