Mark's Lego Creations Update! 1/3/01 —Mark Sandlin
Hi everyone, Please see the IPS HF-300 Medium Freighter in my Spacecraft section. Or just click "What's New" :^) ~Mark "Muffin Head" Sandlin (23 years ago, 4-Jan-01, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build)

Re: Mark's Lego Creations Update! 1/3/01 —Mladen Pejic
Very nice. However, I think it would look better if you made the sides more rounded and detailed. Also the top and bottom look very flat, and could easily have more stuff added to them. Otherwise, it's a very cool freighter, and I really like the (...) (23 years ago, 4-Jan-01, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build)

Re: Mark's Lego Creations Update! 1/3/01 —Mark Sandlin
(...) I agree. Perhaps you should buy me a whole lot of blue 2x2 and 2x3 slopes and inverse slopes. ;^) (...) But do they need stuff added to them? I wasn't necessarily shooting for a Star Wars tech-covered freighter look this time around. (...) (...) (23 years ago, 4-Jan-01, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build)

Re: Mark's Lego Creations Update! 1/3/01 —Mladen Pejic
(...) Believe me, if I had the money I would, right after I'd buy myself a couple thousand black and yellow plates, bricks, slopes, beams, and space elements! Then I'd hop over to your house and we'd build huge mecha and spacecraft and than make (...) (23 years ago, 4-Jan-01, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build)

Re: Mark's Lego Creations Update! 1/3/01 —Mark Sandlin
(...) Heh. I counted 'em up, and I'd need to have 33 of each in blue: 2x2 slope, 2x3 slope, 2x2 inverse slope, 2x3 inverse slope. I suppose if I'd built the thing at Wayne's house I could have done it. :^) ~Mark "Muffin Head" Sandlin (23 years ago, 4-Jan-01, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build)

Re: Mark's Lego Creations Update! 1/3/01 —Jonathan Mizner
(...) Pretty neat design. I must agree with Mladen, though. It lacks excitement. The Neverwhere was interesting, with secret weapons, opening compartments, and a radical new design. The ISP HF-300 is just kind of, well, boring. No offense, but it (...) (23 years ago, 4-Jan-01, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build)

Re: Mark's Lego Creations Update! 1/3/01 —Mark Sandlin
(...) That's what it is: an IPS Freighter. It's made to haul stuff real fast. Modern-day UPS trucks aren't very exciting either. (...) It's supposed to look like a sleek, corporate shipping vessel. (...) Why? It's a corporate freighter. It travels (...) (23 years ago, 4-Jan-01, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build)

Re: Mark's Lego Creations Update! 1/3/01 —Mladen Pejic
(...) Sorry to interrupt, Mark maybe you should read this: This is what the O-great Sproaticus once told me when I asked him what he thought of one of my really boring models...      (...) my other stuff. I guess I was just in the mood to make something very functional and corporate-looking. Like I told Jonathan, I'm not offended if people think it's boring, but it really is *supposed* to be boring. So I guess on that count, (...) It's good to see someone not overreact to criticism (especially if it's in an attempt to be constructive) and even better to see him laugh at himself ;) Oh, yeah, the colour scheme is a little odd (one of those times that a (...)       (...) Well, if you can't laugh at yourself, then who can ya laugh at? Oh wait, I can laugh at Tim C. <gdr> (...) Ah, yeah... but I've been resisting. I'd really rather just build something new with the bricks in RL. ;^) ~Mark "Muffin Head" Sandlin (23 years ago, 4-Jan-01, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build)

Re: Mark's Lego Creations Update! 1/3/01 —Mark Sandlin
(...) I think my freighter wasn't very popular because I was trying to emulate Bob Hayes' bricks-as-curves style that he used on a couple of his large freighters. I think it would have made more sense and worked better if my model had been larger. (...) (23 years ago, 6-Jan-01, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build)

(...) Pushing the envelope again. This is a different direction for you, Mark. The ship looks pretty functional. I like the technic pieces around the engines...and an odd choice for a color scheme. I'm a little uncomfortable with the windows being (...)      Cool. Excellent job at pulling off the color scheme. I love the orange technic bits offf the flare throwbot. I'm all for going in new directions with color schemes for space ships. I love the off centered cockpit and protruding sensor array thing. I (...) (23 years ago, 4-Jan-01, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build)

Re: Mark's Lego Creations Update! 1/3/01 —Mark Sandlin
(...) Thanks. I was really itching to use my orange bricks from the S@H pumkpin. :^) (...) Well, the off-center cockpit is obviously influenced by the Millennium Falcon.      (...) Mark, Nice ship. Despite previous criticisms, I think that your design intent was clear and that you nailed it pretty well, as usual.         nice toilet —Paul Hartzog

Heh. Thanks Paul! I try to put a toilet in my larger spacecraft. If figure they're usually longer range vehicles and the crew would need facilities instead of the usual spacesuit potty-bags. ;^) ~Mark "Muffin Head" Sandlin (23 years ago, 6-Jan-01, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build)
