I agree with Adrian, 16x16 baseplate with minimum 1-plate thickness in grey
(original light grey, not super-terrific schizo grey with hints of gunmetal blue
that took away our precious light grey like some cheap floozie).  Instead of
plates, bricks can be used in spots to give texture to the moonscape, similar to
the Mars-scape layout at the Challenger Center display or in Aaron's Marsbase.
Any color baseplate can be used underneath, as long as it doesn't poke through
in a sloppy manner.

16x16 gives 78% (112 studs!) more room than 12x12.

This will allow anyone with a blue, green, tan, or white 16x16 baseplate to join
in the fun.

I don't think the corridors should necessarily be on the ground, because that
would limit the little rovers & bots we could build to tool around the surface.
Here are my thoughts:

-Corridor connections are a technic 1x2 brick with a centered hole, centered on
the edge of the baseplate with a minimum 2-stud setback.

-Corridors are 2 dots + 1 1x1 cylinder (or more, depending on the setback),
either in black or flourescent green, to give the appearance of illuminated
transparent walkways.  The corridors will fit into the technic hole. *note* I'm
pretty sure this would fit, but I haven't actually measured.  An alternative
could be the 2x "macaroni" pieces attached with a technic pin.  It's a cleaner
look, but will be hard to color coordinate unless someone has bunch of them in
one color.

-3 bricks' height between the plate level and the bottom of the technic brick

This is so cool.  I want to build my own little "Bottled City of Kandor" now.

(...) I agree with Nick and Adrian (with Nick's sugestion about corridor height added). 16x16 with plates on top will make it more accessible to more builders. I haven't built a moonbase module yet, due to lack of time and space; I can hardly wait (...) (21 years ago, 15-Jan-04, to lugnet.space)
