I haven't tried Visual NQC, neither have I tried the new version of RCXcc of John Hansen.
I'm still using the old Mark Overmars RCXcc and I'm quiet happy with it.
The reason for not trying al those new ones is the long term expectations.
Neither of those new ones have plans to publish their sources.
I think one of the succes factors of for instance NQC is (besides it's a great compiler) that it's free software released under the Mozilla Public License. So it'll never ends and is avaliable on many platforms.

I picked up my RIS 1.5 at the weekend and have build my first robot using

tank tracks and 2 touch sensors triggered by the bumpers at the front.

So I'm now ready to start programming it.

My question is which of the 2 environments available RCXCC or Visual NQC is
best?  I guess they both have their merits and down sides, but I'd rather
start with 1 and stick to it.

Thanks in advance.

RCXcc by John H or RCXcc by Mark O. Was (Re: RCXCC or Visual NQC 2001?)

Can anyone tell me what's new in the RCXcc Version by John as oppose to the old RCXcc? Also in downloading the zip file from John's site and I suppose to replace my old RCXcc files with these? Thanks! Ahui Herrera (23 years ago, 4-May-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

(...) That's simply not true. I fully intend to release the source code to my revised version of RcxCC. When did I indicate otherwise? As you are probably aware, Mark didn't release his source code until he decided to no longer develop the software. (...) (23 years ago, 4-May-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)
