 | | legOS new name: a remark
|
| some of you may have noticed that I didn't include some names. I contacted the LEGO group and asked them about their feelings for a new name. I got the following answer: The new name should not include any of our trademarks, such as: LEGO, (...) (24 years ago, 24-Jun-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

|
| When I muck about with Exploration Mars software, the RCX doesn't go out of range until it's out of the room. With pbForth, the RCX receives the commands over just as far a range, but can only send its "ok" feedback when it is quite close to the (...) (26 years ago, 19-Dec-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.pbforth)

 | | RE: USB vs Serial Tower Response Time

| (...) <snipped long post> Dick, This is a remarkably detailed analysis of the difference between the USB and serial towers. It also contains many useful hints about the preamble bytes and other esoteric things about the LEGO protocol. I have an dea (...) (23 years ago, 21-Aug-03, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

 | | Q for Ralph
|
| Why, exactly, does pbForth use a terminal emulator for the PC to talk to the RCX? Although I admit I find it an interesting concept (it's got a certain nostalgic appeal, at least for me), the design seems to encourage leaving the RCX on for extended (...) For more fun with asserts: See if your compiler supports the FILE and LINE macros (or something equivilant). #ifdef NDEBUG #define assert(x) ((void)0) #else #define assert(x) if (x) else assertfail(FILE,LINE); #endif your assert_fail function (...) | Hi, people. The reason for the flood of posts is that I've been trying to get authenticated on LUGNET for the last week :( But as you can see, I'm authenticated now :) On to the topic of this post (sorry for such a long post): I have created an (...) | | RE: pbForth vs RCX 1.0

| (...) What you describe would work exactly. Normally, the "outer interpreter" of pbForth waits for input using "KEY" - which of course is just a char from the IR. You can make a special word that waits for anything you like... Cheers, Ralph (24 years ago, 30-Jun-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.pbforth)

 | | Re: Maximum Subroutine numbers?
|
| I don't use Robolab, but I can offer some insight into how the RCX firwmare operates with subroutines (and events) that may partially explain your problems. RCX firmware supports 8 (eight) subroutines per slot. Internally they are numbers 0 to 7. (...) (23 years ago, 28-Dec-03, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.robolab)
