USB IR tower support in Lunix

I have seen some past messages in this forum regarding the support for the USB IR tower in the Linux version of BrickOS. However, it seems that nothing have been added recently to the CVS tree at SourceForge. Is somebody working on this project (...) (22 years ago, 20-Dec-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

control multiple mindstorms robots using 1 IR tower!

Hi all! I'd like to control multiple mindstorms robots using one IR tower with replacing the default firmware for RCX unit to leJOS! Is it possible? I do consider the problem of how to distinguish the different RCX units inside the robots within the (...) (22 years ago, 20-Jun-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

  LegOS/BrickOS on Mac OS X?

I was wondering if anyone had successfully ported the H8 compiler over to OS X? With an USB IR Tower, and the underlying Unix/BSD resources on the Mac, it would be an ideal development platform.   Cygwin under Virtual PC on OS X

Having no luck getting BrickOS and the cross compiler package to build under Mac OS X 10.2.2, I thought I'd try moving my previously working djgpp directories and LegOS 0.2.4 directories to a Virtual PC DOS session...only to remember that djgpp (...)   Re: USB IR tower support in Lunix

Hi, I got the USB IR-tower to work under linux using the same patch Florian used. I also sent an updated patch that applies to 0.2.6.09 to the original author of the patch. However I have to caution that the said patch only works with UHCI hubs that (...) (22 years ago, 4-Jan-03, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

Lego's IR protocol is proprietary, similar to that used by remote controls. This means that USB/IrDA bridges will not work, nor will the IrDA ports of laptop computers. If you have a universal remote which connects to your computer, you might be (...) (22 years ago, 5-Feb-03, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Re: Transmitting time USB vs serial

(...) Michael, I tried your programs on Windows and Linux. On Windows 98 the USB tower takes about one second to reply (990 - 1100ms). On Linux it took about 9 seconds as you indicate. This looks like a problem with the Linux USB driver. I will ask (...) (22 years ago, 5-Jan-03, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.java)

(...) Do you mean use an RCX 1.0 with a USB IR tower? Nothing special required. The IR protocol is the same. The PC software, however, must support USB, and I don't think the RIS 1.0 software does. (22 years ago, 4-Feb-03, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)
