Hi,
I got the USB IR-tower to work under linux using the same patch Florian used. I
also sent an updated patch that applies to 0.2.6.09 to the original author
of the patch.
However I have to caution that the said patch only works with UHCI hubs that
seem to be
prevelant with x86 machines. I could not get the same patch to work with an
OHCI hub on a
powerbook running linux. So I am not sure if this should be maitained as a
patch for some
more time till it work across architectures before committing it to the CVS
tree. However
it would be nice if we can get the Brickos website to have link to the
patch. I would
also like to get my hands on Florian's patch which also has lnpd working.
I have a problem related to downloading firmware/OS to the the brick from the
usb tower using linux. If already have an OS on the brick I am unable to
download a new
copy. However if I removed the batteries and wiped out the contents of the
RAM I am able
to download a new copy of the OS. Any thoughts on this? Further the key
combination of
"Program" and "On" buttons is not earsing the OS under brickos. It works
fine under the
original firmware supplied by Lego.
On a second thought it would also be nice if the brickos website also
mentioned another
source forge project dedicated to supporting tools (binutils, gcc etc) for
the hms8300
architecture. The current instructions about debian packages seem dated and
I was unable
to get the tools to work using the debian packages.
