I dunno that much about the technical side of MS or CM.  As has been
pointed out already, CM is made for playing to a larger extent than MS.
I'd still say CM is rather good, though, and quite worthwile.  It's
probably a good alternative to the 5600 RC universal set.  CM lets you
make a vehicle which can be remotely controlled to move around and pick
up and put down things, which can be quite fun, believe me.

When it comes to the pieces included in either sets, I'd say the MS set
has a more "conservative" set of pieces, with mostly traditional beams.
CM on the other hand has almost exclusively new style technic pieces,
i.e. one and two bend beams, 5,6, and 7 halfbeams, L halfbeams, 2×1 and
3×1 crossblocks and so on.  There's also some 5 axles, while MS has
none.  The treads are also exclusive to CM, and they're quite nice.

And last, but not least: CM has three motors, while MS has two.  True,
two of the CM motors are build into the mobile unit.

I have 8482 CM, so please feel free to ask me specific questions
regarding the contents of the set.  Please ask questions here on the
newsgroup.

(...) They looked interesting in the pictures I've seen. Can you describe them more? (26 years ago, 8-Oct-98, to lugnet.robotics)

Hello All! I'm kicking around the idea (pretty seriously) of finally picking up a Mindstorms, and had a few questions: 1. MS vs CM; are they essentially the same except where the program is stored and executed? If so, what kind of range are we (...) (26 years ago, 7-Oct-98, to lugnet.robotics)
