Actually, the reason I'm looking here is because I had a motor die recently
for no apparent reason. It's become really difficult to turn the spindle by
hand and it only gives about 100 RPM instead of the nominal 360.

I've had 6 bad motors out of 15 or so. Some out of the RoboSports sets
but non from an actual RIS or RDS. LEGO will replace the motors are no
cost. Sometimes you must send in the bad motors in their return
envelope.

I had one motor that would spin normal until torqued. Then it would just
spin inside and not the shaft. LEGO didn't want that one back and I use
it as a power generator. Wind power.

That could be good news. Can you tell me how you contacted someone at Lego
who has some good sense?

Thanks

I've never had an issue with LEGO. My wife has. They made her send in
the bad parts first, on her dime. She was pretty upset. But I've never
had an issue and have never been charged.
