Lego Shop-at-Home still has the #8250 Search Sub for $25 (previously $50). The set includes one blue air tank, a large pump, and other pneumatic parts. I need to transfer the data in a matrix on the HB to my win98 PC? I know a special program is necessary to interpret the signals going to the COM port. I'm wondering whether the sharp IS1U60L component mounted on the handy-board is suitable for this type of application. We managed to make it work recieving codes (...) Interactive C can't handle 2D or 3D arrays.... instead another method needs to be used.. If your matrix was a 3X3 789 456 123 and rows went from bottom to top and columns from left to right then you'd have to come up with a formula using the row and (...) Andrew - - Take a look at Dennis' IRPD ... it uses a 12C508, 2 IR LEDs and a Sharp detector ... works great with the HandyBoard and off loads much of the processing to the PIC. you won't be able to easily) get distance measures with standard IR comms parts (such as the IS1u60). light travels too fast for the time delay betw xmit and rcv to tell you anything. as a proximity sensor, all you get is a yes/no reading. if you (...) I'm using one of my old cylinders for my cut-off pressure switch. This only uses one of the inlets any way. They are OK for once only trigger events. They can also be used to transfer motion from one place to another by simply connecting two with (...) (26 years ago, 7-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

I believe there is a problem with the theory used in the article. He talks about using the Radio Shack emitter/detectors to do some 180 deg Detection. He's talking about using multiple emitters and detectors as proximity detectors. (much like using (...) (26 years ago, 7-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

The Keyspan adapters are still a bit of a grey area. I've had several reports of them working just fine, and one report of it not working at all.
