I was interested to note the sad comments about Lego being
just a toy! I am also a professional engineer, of 25 years
standing, who enjoys recreational Lego. RIS is one of the
more significant steps toward accessible home robotics in
recent years.
I noted that in the September issue of the OE-REPORTS, the
paper published by the International Society for Optical
Engineering, an article about simulating fly's eyes! The
article, from Caltech goes on to describe testing a simulated
fly's eye for guiding a small robot. Guess what. The photo
clearly shows Lego RIS parts being used as the basis for the
robot platform.
Yes!! Way to go, Caltech!
