I realize that it's convenient, but it's just not realistic. (See my earlier
comments. Or e-mail me if you want to hear me rant more.)

The DNS is NOT meant to be a directory service. For many reasons, it doesn't
work well as one.

As for the theoretical porn site -- it's possible that TLG would have some
grounds for complaint, but possibly not. The toy company isn't the only one
called "Lego" -- there's a japanese ceramic figure company, and an
irrigation company in (I think Israel). So, although it might not make TLG
very happy to have a porn site sharing their name, and I'm sure they'd throw
lawyers at it like crazy, there's not really much they could do -- or should
be able to do. (Look at whitehouse.com for the canonical example of this,
actually. Or don't look, if you're easily offended.) Basically: good thing
for TLG that they got it first.

(...) To a certain extent, it doesn't really matter how it was meant to be used, but how it does get used. Lego sets aren't >meant< to be used by adults. Does that mean we should all stop using them? <grin> James (URL) (25 years ago, 29-Sep-99, to lugnet.publish)
