The year is 2185.  Six months ago, all contact with Coalition Research
Vessel Zero-Point-Nine-Three-Seven [1] was lost.

<snip>

Zero-Point-Nine-Three-Seven is not just another research vessel. It is the
coalition's most advanced - and secretive - ship. In fact, until it's
disapperance, only a handful of people were even aware of its existance. Now
the rumors are flying. The ship not only is a breeding ground for
technological research and breakthroughs, but itself employs technology only
drempt about. Rumor has it that there's a lab so special on that ship that
there are no doorways, access hatches or even ventalation ducts that connect
it to the rest of the ship. It's completely self contained. What's more
incredible is that apparently the only way to access the lab is through a
teleporter! Can you believe such nonsense? Of course, if it is true, that
technology alone is worth the trip.

They say the reason for this setup is plain and simple: security. In the
event the ship was boarded, the telepods would be disabled. You would need a
special code to reactive them. What could possibly be in the lab that would
be even more valuable? I can't imagine.

And I know what you're thinking, 'just cut your way in.' Well, let me tell
you, it's suppossedly encased in Adamantium[1], so unless you can extract
the power of a nearby sun, you're out of luck. Word on the street has it
that there's probably a number of Coalition researchers still within the lab
working away. That's pretty appealing too. 'Course that could mean some
resistance once we get in there and who knows what they've got? Could it be
something from this lab that caused the problems on the ship? If there are
people within the lab, do they even have a clue as to what has happened?
Whatever the case, that ship is more valuable than an entire solar system
and we've got to get it. Whatever the cost. [3]

*************************************************************

The goal of each side is to obtain, and retain, the appropriate data • packets,
which are found throughout the ship.  Although each is valuable in and of
itself, the real goal is to obtain a collection of one of each (there will • be
multiples of each).  These contain such varied forms of information as the
ship's log, the research journals, the genetic coding of the new species, • and
so on and so forth.

These data packets, represented by 1x1 tiles, will be concealed in a whole
slieu of identical opaque containers (treasure chests, garbage cans, • generic
brick-boxes, etc - whatever I can pull together lots of).  Once each • container
has a packet, they will be mixed up, and spread randomly through the ship. • The
two sides will not know what is in each container until they can get there • and
open it up.

Additionally, Marines and Faction Mercenaries alike might be perturbed to • find
themselves face to face with some aliens that somehow escaped their
containment, and are responsible for the crew no longer doing crew-like • things
such as breathing.

Sooo ... any suggestions?  Feedback?  Ideas and/or refinements?  Copyright
lawyers wanting to talk to me about copyright infringement?  Anything?

[1] For the truly dorky at heart: think old-style calculators, and • remember
that it is easy to lose one's perspective of "up" in space ;)

Automation comes to Brikwars. There's 2 telepods and they work. That is to
say, they are powered by an RCX. The teams will need to locate the
activation code from within the containers scattered about the ship.
However, once they are activated, anyone can use them, regardless of the
team that got them up and running. Each telepod is equipped with a light
sensor so that it knows when a fig wants to teleport. An ascending sound is
made from the originating telepod, completed with swirling light (via fiber
optics) and then the destination telepod will respond with a descending
sound and swirling light in the opposite direction. The telepods are
bi-directional. However, since these telepods were manufactured by Sullivan
Industries, they are not 100% reliable. Due to some power fluctuations,
there's a chance that your fig will truly become one with the universe and
not reintegrate[2]. This is true for anything that gets teleported.

[1] Yes, I ripped off Marvel Comics. Adamantium is a virtually unbreakable
metal in the Marvel Universe.

[2] The telepods use a random number to determine whether or not the
teleport succeeded. I based it on a 1d20, so you have a 1 in 20 (or 5%)
chance of not reintegrating. The number 'rolled' is displayed on the RCX's
LCD.

[3] This doesn't mean that my team has to be the Faction, since I haven't
discussed this with them yet.
