Also, these stores aren’t exactly super-secret.
And I don’t mind sharing facts like –Winners had some good Lego selection.-

Neither of these two items is particularily secret, yes.  In fact, I'd be
almost safe to say there are almost no cool Toronto Lego secrets anymore.
Lego I suspect has changed it's business model from what I can tell to hold
back most of the desirable/niche models to S@H (which you won't ever see
sales on) OR (not knowing their true plan) Canadian retail product managers
are not buying as big a variety. I know in general, the Canadian retail
market is leaving toys overall.

In fact, you read my mind, because tonight I went shopping for Lego and I
honestly was so unimpressed with the selection (Walmart, Bay, Sears) I
didn't buy anything. (Note: For all you speculators, there's plenty of
6776's still out there)  This isn't the first time.  Last week I saw Olivier
Giesen's note about sales and went to look at stuff at the Bay.  I couldn't
find anything I wanted to get.

There's nothing sold retail that even REMOTELY holds my interest.  There's
little in Lego's current normal line up that is interesting:  The Legends
rereleases are cool, but they're rehashes and only at S@H.  Manas are pretty
neat, but that's one set, and an expensive one at $120 (or $88).
Bionicle/Dinosaurs/Throwbots/Racers are pathetic.  Studios was looking to be
cool, because it had Town windows etc, but I didn't want to pay Steven
Speilberg's head tax.  I can't believe the Bank Explosion set is $34.
That's insane.  There aren't enough pieces to justify that.  Yuck!

I find myself buying parts.  In fact, apart from buying parts for train1/2,
I've purchased NO LEGO "models"-meaning, I've only bought bulk buckets, tubs
and clearance Star Wars/Creator sets to scrounge for interesting elements.
I own two or three Gungan Subs I bought at 50-60% off just for slopes and
plates.  Heck, I even have a 4561 for Train parts. I haven't actually sat
down and built a cool SET in a long time-there's nothing really appealing?!

Zellers is by far the best for deals, the Bay/Sears are often very small and
poorly faced/rotated, TRU is a frickin ripoff, and Eatons isn't even in
contention.  Once in a while, you'll see something roll around in Costco but
nothing advertised.

No on retails Trains past the 4561, no on sells Technic beyond $50 "Play"
junk.  One of the things that really irks me about Technic is that a friend
needs smore beams for his very small collection (a DDK and a RIS) and there
isn't any set I can point him to that you can buy retail, that has any
useful amount of beams.  It's all flexy pieces and half beams-mostly useless
for basic Technic building.

Don’t be greedy like Chris,       ;)

I'm not worried about Chris.  What I am worried about are the folks that
don't post, don't contribute, but scalp on Ebay.  Trust me, they're out there.

Anyways, it’s not like the entire general public of the GTA will clean out the Lego inventory before I get to it. “the lurkers will buy all the sets right from under your nose.” This happens anyways.
