So, I've been out of the loop for a bit, primarily due to work, and I've been
reading all of this stuff post PDX (which I wanted to go to, but never had the
points on my Aeroplan to afford it) and scratching my head in shock on some of
the posts that are coming out of it and the LFN kickoff thread.

Where the heck did all of these obsessive compulsive nutcases come from?
(Yeah, I know you're all reading.  Just notice the message header says
lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, so I'm not talking to you.  You need to be subscribed
to this group or reading top level, so obviously you're smart enough to filter
out stuff that isn't directed to you.)

I can't believe how crazy these folks are!  Walking up to people in the aisles
to inform them about Lego's colour change.  What, you have nothing better to
do?!  That's about on par with the weirdos on Dundas and Yonge screaming and
passing out literature on the apocalypse.

Proclaiming you won't buy anymore sets.  Good for you.  That means more MERs,
Backhoes and AT-TE's for me!

Criticizing Jake for not bringing more to show.  Do they realize back on rtl we
had to scour catalogs from random places like Iowa and wait our turn on
overloaded FTP servers to see what new sets were available?  We're getting
official previews on BrickSet, Classic Castle, ILTCO and these people are
complaining?!

Dissing our man Greg Hyland on his comic book on AFOLs for Lego staff?!  Jake
and crew try and educate Lego on us enthusiasts in a creative way and they're
complaining Greg has an attitude?  Yeah, he does, and it's the correct one.  God
help us (yes, that's right, I'm going to use the Lord's name the way I choose
to, Rob) if we get compared to comic book enthusiasts.  How about you thank Lego
for trying to understand the issue?!

I love the folks who try and make up their own interpretations of how a business
works.  Suggesting they know more than the average marketing or product line
manager.  Taking their AFOL interests and superimposing them on the product
ideas a company has for their target market, kids.

These same people have no clue how hard it is to make a multinational,
multibillion dollar company understand a very very small part of their business.
Yet they take something as small as Greg Hyland or Jake McKee and turn it into
the "sky is falling".

These people are nuts.  And I'm going back to bed.

Calum
PS-One more topic to rant about:  You ever see those ads for folding tradeshow
display booths which are being toted around by petite women with one finger?  A
frickin lie.  I just finished setting up a 8x8' standard booth in a ATA rated
case several times this week and they weigh a ton.  I am never going to try this
wearing dress shoes and a tie ever again.  At least not six times in a 24 hour
period.

Good gripes! Calum has invited hell to rtlToronto! This will not be a pretty sight when the cry babies awake - this stuff is on the front page of LUGNET now!
