at the last meet i was going on about the guy with the page on the simple lego clock design. he/it can be found here: (URL) a movie here: (URL) well, it turns out that this guy is the same one who built an ALL LEGO camera. results can be found here: (...)   Re: Is Sumo in or out? Please make it "in"!

(...) I could submit my previous entry again. :D Or, you could all beat me senseless... :O Seriously, tho, I'd be interested, provided the timing of the compo is OK.. Jeff (24 years ago, 10-Nov-00, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Is Sumo in or out? Please make it "in"!

(...) I think that might splinter the number of entries. The number of sumo entries really often depends on who new we find to play and get into the entire event spirit. The major issues I have with returning sumo is a) there's a dwindling number of (...) (24 years ago, 10-Nov-00, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Is Sumo in or out? Please make it "in"!

I would like to get this discussion on track again. (See the subject line.) There's been some discussion on other issues, which are important, but not immediately so, as they don't effect the next competition anyway. What I would like to know is: (...) Hint: Wide + Short. :) The wider the base is, and the closer the wheels are together front/back, the less binding you'll have. If you have a very narrow design, (...)   Re: 4 wheel power robot

(...) well, between the time i made the post and now i created a quick 4 motor 4 wheel design and to my surprise it worked. the A B steering is acceptable. there is some skitter, but not too bad. Thanks, I'll try putting distance between the motors (...) (24 years ago, 9-Nov-00, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: 4 wheel power robot

(...) The sumo 'bot I made for Guelph originally had 4 motors/4 wheels. the problem is I joined the geartrain for each side together, so the one wheel was geared directly to the other wheel on one side of the 'bot. This caused more binding when the (...) (24 years ago, 9-Nov-00, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  4 wheel power robot

open request to all: during the last robot games some of the entries has 4 wheel 4 motor robots. how well does this work? is it like a track, and A B steering? is it less stable? does anyone have advice on building a robot and powering each wheel (...) (...) Rob, that was a wonderful design and I'm currently implementing some of your ideas in my next stacker. So the focus... hmmm... I go for the challenge and whether there's 5 people or 5 thousand, to me it doesn't matter. I find the people who (...) (24 years ago, 8-Nov-00, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Is Sumo in or out? Please make it "in"!

(...) Hmmm... I can see both sides to this dilemma. Similar to Iain, I am no fan of pressure. When you spend as many agonizing hours over your robot as you do, it becomes a big attachment. You surely don't want it to disapppoint. After the last (...) (24 years ago, 8-Nov-00, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Is Sumo in or out? Please make it "in"!

(...) I like the many ideas thrown around here. The line tracking idea is very appealing to me. Trying to get a 'bot to follow a zigzag line as quick as possible is challenging. The issues: how big can you make the 'bot and if you can only use parts (...) (24 years ago, 7-Nov-00, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Is Sumo in or out? Please make it "in"!

(...) You know, I'd rather it stay reasonably small at around 100 people or less. The largest we've had is 70+ and that's already a litle large. I like it when people can go up to Jin or Rob and ask them how their robot works, and that those folks (...) (24 years ago, 7-Nov-00, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Is Sumo in or out? Please make it "in"!

(...) I didn't think there was any pressure really at the competition on Saturday, though some of the other contestants might have felt otherwise. (1) It was very fun, especially *because* there was so large a crowd cheering the robots on. Remember, (...) (24 years ago, 7-Nov-00, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Is Sumo in or out? Please make it "in"!
