Re: WANTED -- ideas to teach kids about lego roboitcs

(...) Actually, I'll chime in on Steve's side here - Sumo is not what rtlToronto is about, but having kids smash robots together is, usually, a hit. One option is have a standard chassis with easily switchable gearing (different gear ratios), (...) (21 years ago, 24-Feb-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) Apparently that'll get you on TechTV... :) But seriously, I might have to agree with Steve here. Sumo or something REALLY obvious. How about get them to build a small I dunno, wheeled robot. Let it drive a long and stop when it touches a black (...) (21 years ago, 24-Feb-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Calum et al. Lugnet has been very good to us. I'll be blunt!! Todd and Lugnet are in the process of upgrading systems and require $$ for new hardware.   Re: [rtlToronto] rtlToronto16 Preliminary Rules Released

I have no problem with spooling. it would be a valid way to solve this. maybe an easier way to phrase the rule set would be to read: -your entire robot must be higher then 11 feet off the ground. this would allow spooling, and make sure people life (...)   Re: [rtlToronto] rtlToronto16 Preliminary Rules Released

(...) The is why Chris' makes a good point when he says the winning robot should be the one that hits the top mark first, not passes the lower mark.   Re: [rtlToronto] rtlToronto16 Preliminary Rules Released

(...) I agree that spooling is a valid strategy. There are two goals to having the robot within two marks: a) Definitively saying if you've "made it". b) Ruling out people who might leave a portion of the robot behind. I want to hear additional (...) (21 years ago, 23-Feb-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: [rtlToronto] rtlToronto16 Preliminary Rules Released

(...) This may be construed as nit-picky, but I believe the spirit of the game will allow the bottom-most part of one's robot to be above where the 11' mark was, or would be if the rope were still hanging straight down.
