Hey people in the Boston area: IBM's developerWorks is having a "barCode" party at Jillian's tomorrow night. The main attraction is Miguel de Icaza (of GNOME fame), but there's also gonna be Lego Mindstorms there to play with and look at. (...) I think that they have in fact removed a few things from the 6.1 installl disk (it's a pretty tight squeeze), but it shouldn't have been anything remotely mainstream. All our servers are at 4.2 (or 4.11, same thing, different support packs) we're busy trying to merge the current enterprise of 3000 (with groupwise and zenworks/winstall/NAL and all that jazz) into a (...) (...) shop (...) yah, she has 3000 users, I have 200 - she has to reboot her servers at least once a week (if they don't crash before that) while my servers average uptime of about 200 days, at heavy load... and that's only cause then I take them (...) (...) heheh. that's almost the exact situation we have here. 486/25 running RH6.0 (6.1 won't install, didn't have time to get it to yet), compared to PIII/500 running win95... In my experience, it's been quite stable, and its rendering engine is excellent, but it's got The Most Heinous Memory Leak (even up through the most recent release from two weeks ago) and its font support and (...) (...) well, there's two issues here. First, you can use gnome WITH fvwm - since gnome is not a window manager. Well, RH 6.1 is running, knows I have two celerons, etc, etc. Vmware 2.0 is installed. So far I have Win2k Pro installed, planning on putting Win2k Server and both NT4 Workstation and Server on as well. Need some more ram and it looks like I missed (...)
