  Re: Swearing?

(...) Yup. I agree. The problem is, when does something have a victim? For adults this quite clear -- only when there is not consent. For non-adults, this gets very blurry very fast. Does a photographer have the right to publish a photograph of, (...) (25 years ago, 8-Jan-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

  Re: Ad hominem attacks

(...) It seems that McCarthyism (spelling?) has returned to America. Or, perhaps, we could coin a more modern phrase: Agendaism. Our society, by in large, has abandoned a belief in principles of objective truth that have a moral imperative upon our (...) (25 years ago, 23-Mar-00, to lugnet.off-topic.debate)

But since I've had the "privilege" of riding in a taxi driven by a Cockney I know that for the accent to be even close to correct it has to be completely unintelligible to an American. (...) (...) Guns are already more easily obtained through illegal channels in the US. Increasing the difficulty of obtaining a gun through legal channels will not stop any criminals from getting them.
