prove nothing about how the situation would be like with a *consistent*
legislation over the *whole US* making it a bit harder to get guns.

Guns are already more easily obtained through illegal channels in the US.
Increasing the difficulty of obtaining a gun through legal channels will not
stop any criminals from getting them.  Why do people assume that just because
something is outlawed that it will magically go away?  Gun Control only affects
those that follow the law.  No criminal will ever be affected.
Gun Control as a political issue has nothing to do with controlling firearms
and everything to do with controlling the opinions of the masses.
