Jeff,

Uh-oh, I opened up another can of worms. :)

Actually, I was sorta refering to the standard FF7 debate and the Emulation
debate.  What the heck, lets start one.  :)

What are everyone's opinions on emulation?  Many of the games played on
emulators are not available anymore or were never available in the area (i.e.
Japanese games that were never released in the US.(1)  And considering you have
modify your console to play a foreign game...).  Does this give people a right
to play these games illegally?

I understand completely, I feel almost the same in terms of their haphazard
FF releases. I like FF7, only because it is still a decent game, I think I
like FF2 (4) and FF3 (6) and FF1 the best. I didn't even bother with Parasite
Eve. I could not stand Secret of Evermore, ugh! You forgot the real stinker,
Saga Frontier! UGH!!!!

I purchased FF7 over a year ago, and I have yet to finish it.  One reason is
probably because Square didn't finish it.  (If they finished it, why can you
get Aeris' final Limit Break on the Third CD?)

I never got to play SaGa Frontier, 'cause my neighbor sold it before letting
me play it.  Speaking of Square U.S.A. games (Evermore), have you ever played
FF Mystic Quest?  I kinda like it, in a wierd twisted sorta way.  :)

I love FF Tactics, however. The translation sucked, but it still a great
game.

Have you finished it yet?  My good characters were about 60-70th level for the
final battle.  The Boss didn't even have a chance to attack!  :)  Anyways,
most of my characters are at 99th level (Except Cloud) now.  I suppose I
should see how easy the final part of the game is now.  :)  Also, I could tell
you what Final Fantasies most of those hidden places are from if you want to
know.

I have not started Xenogears yet (X-No-Gears is what I call it, just to
enrage my roommate! :) )

Every time I plan to buy it something comes up.  :/

I am looking forward to the Secret of Mana game, as well as the anthology. I
guess I don't mind the technology too much from FF3-FF8, but I won't mind
either if they went back to the medieval roots.

FF5 is a great game.  The Job system is tons of fun!  The classes are really
cool, especially when you have Lenna change into Chun-Li (Monk class) :)  Also,
there is a character who, when she becomes a white mage, wears what looks like
a teddy bear outfit.  The White Wizard from FF3 wears the same outfit.(2)  Its
really cute.  :)

I guess in both Lego and video game realms, some marketing teams really are
stupid.

Don't worry, Jeff, I share your frustration with Square as well. Ugh, we need
to use some of that technology on the marketing department!

Perhaps hire people who have higher than a fifty IQ?  Or maybe they could...
*Gasp!* Do a survey??

Jeff

1 - Luckily there are groups that translate and release patches for these
games.  For free, no less.

2 - I believe RPGamer.com has pictures with all the available classes for both
games.  FF3's is in its screenshots catagory, FF5's is in the packaging
category.
