Well, I'm not Larry, but I'll respond anywise...

Two thoughts:
- Recall that Larry said he had a window already open with his auction, he
was able to cut and past a URL which was in the title/menu portion of a
window on his screen.
- His auction text has a more complete description of the services than that
given in your sample post.

I think that given the time dependant nature of what was going on, Larry's
post was reasonable, HOWEVER, once an issue was raised, and he had a little
more time (I think he's had a little more time in the evening), he should
have re-posted a more acceptable post, and canceled the original one. This
clears up the problem of future people not being sure what is allowed (and
he can even mention why he re-posted which would settle the issue for anyone
who is currently reading).

Most definitely (of course you already know my feelings here...). Too add
more to this though, I think that in such a group it would be a lot more
acceptable to point to an auction description which happened to have a very
good description of the service you are pointing out. I would tend to think
that people who are uptight about hearing about auctions aren't going to be
reading the services group very much. Also, it doesn't set a dangerous
precedent of auctions being allowed in just any old group (the charter of
the new group could be very specific about how auctions can be mentioned).

| (...) Ya, I grokked that. :) So it's significantly quicker to: 1. Be on the already-open window with the auction 2. Click on the browser's Location box 3. Ctrl-C to copy URL 4. Alt-Tab to edit-post window 5. Ctrl-V to paste URL than to: 1. Be on the (...) (25 years ago, 18-Feb-00, to lugnet.market.theory)
