TLC has changed some of their requirements.  I had a conversation with a
small toy store owner a few months ago and she mentioned it had recently

choose a subset (she chose Soccer, Harry Potter, and Dinosaurs) of the
product line to carry.

Um, isn't this *really* big news?  A minimum buy of $1000 would make it
reasonable for some parts sellers to buy Lego at wholesale.  It's not 75%
off clearance, but wholesale would be a good price, especially if it gave
a seller the opportunity to have a large, known quantity of brand new
sets to part out and make available for sale.

Sadly, more information does not seem to be available; lego.com is
curiously lacking in any information for retailers. . .

I agree wholeheartedly that some of the LD/S@H stuff should be available in
retail outlets.  If it was available retail a lot more money would come out
of my pocket.

Yes, actually making the product available to the whole market, not just
the small collection of people who are willing to buy toys mail-order,
would probably make some money, although the margins would be lower.  The
value in brand building by having quality sets like the Blacksmith Shop in
retail shops would, however, be enormous.

FUT .market.theory, I reckon.

(...) minimum (...) By crikey, at that minimum, it would be viable for some regular consumers to buy wholesale from them! I reckon I could put together an order of that size entirely based on pre-sales from local AFOLs. Now there's a thought! Kerry (23 years ago, 15-Feb-02, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.market.theory)
