Re: How have the new colors affected your recent buying decisions?

(...) So far, I've drastically reduced my purchases in new Lego this year, and what I spent went into older sets (, but totalling less than €100 so far. On the other hand, this money went into the secondary market, where the old colours are still (...) (21 years ago, 15-Mar-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.market.shopping)

  Absolutely!

and in much the same way. I've spent the vast majority of my Lego money at my local consignment shop. Old grey at a discount. WOO! Dave (21 years ago, 16-Mar-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: How have the new colors affected your recent buying decisions?

(...) All I can say is that I don't plan on buying any new sets that year, Technic or Town, and a large reason is because of the horrendous new colors. The ONLY thing that would make me reconsider buying a set is if they would come out with some (...) (21 years ago, 16-Mar-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: How have the new colors affected your recent buying decisions?

(...) I really don't care about the colors. I am not into the building for the colors. I am in the builing for my drug. Yes I said it. Lego is my drug of choice. T-Shirts to follow. LOL Color is not a big deal. I would like to see old baseplates be (...) (21 years ago, 16-Mar-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: How have the new colors affected your recent buying decisions?

(...) I don't expect my buying habits to change at all. Thanks to the aging process of LEGO which eventually turns all bricks yellow, I have many different shades of grey in my collection. Plus, LEGO hasn't been consistent with colors anyway. (...) (21 years ago, 16-Mar-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: How have the new colors affected your recent buying decisions?

(...) For me, the recent color change has contributed to me remaining in my 4th Dark Ages indefinately. That and all the yucky themes and sets that do not appeal to me as a 35-40 age group AFOL. If I had to pick one hobby nowadays, building plastic (...) (21 years ago, 15-Mar-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: How have the new colors affected your recent buying decisions?

(...) My LEGO purchases are way down from last year as a direct consequence of the color change. So far in 2004, I have purchased a total of 3 4400 tubs. Compare that to last year, when I spent "mid three figures" every month on LEGO. There are a (...) (21 years ago, 15-Mar-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: How have the new colors affected your recent buying decisions?

(...) It has changed my buying habits not one tiny little bit. Of course, I do much of my buying at two distinct times (the Brickfest DC outlet trip, and pre/post christmas sales) so I wouldn't have bought that much 2004 product in the last few (...)   Re: How have the new colors affected your recent buying decisions?

(...) As I noted on the one thread on lego.com, I have bought about $10,000/year for the last 6 years... So far this year, I have bought *zero* 2004 sets. I have bought some clearance Lego here and there to stockpile ODG (Old Dark Grey), but nothing (...) (21 years ago, 15-Mar-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: How have the new colors affected your recent buying decisions?

(...) Well, I'm away from the US for the year, and LEGO is hideously expensive in the UK for an American. So the only thing I've bought since the mass of Hailfire Droids I got at Target clearance in January has been the new X-Pod set. I did get the (...)   Re: How have the new colors affected your recent buying decisions?

My set buying days are over. I will not buy any 2004 or later sets until such time as the grey and brown colors are changed back to their original versions (which I expect will be never). I believe that if Lego as a company would make such poor (...) (21 years ago, 15-Mar-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: How have the new colors affected your recent buying decisions?

(...) Well since I was one of the first people to respond to most of the color thread issues I'll throw my experiences in here. I have purchased 3 of the 2004 sets but, one got traded after pictures were taken, the second one was a gag gift for my (...) (21 years ago, 15-Mar-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: How have the new colors affected your recent buying decisions?

(...) So far, I've only purchased ONE 2004+ set - the 4492 MINI Star Destroyer. Part of the reason I got this set was because I wanted to see the new colours first hand, but I bought this set mainly for one specific part. I am primarily a castle (...)   Re: How have the new colors affected your recent buying decisions?

(...) It hasn't changed my buying habits at all. I don't buy a lot of sets, and when I do I choose them mainly for the parts selection. All in all, buying sets for parts isn't very efficient so I tend to favour bricklink to pick up unusual parts. (...) (21 years ago, 15-Mar-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: How have the new colors affected your recent buying decisions?

(...) I also bought a new 2004 set (Mos Eisly Cantina), so I have seen the new shades first hand. I also do not like the new brown and gray shades. My recent LEGO buys have been through Bricklink and LEGO Shop at Home. I shop Bricklink because there (...) (21 years ago, 14-Mar-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: How have the new colors affected your recent buying decisions?

Short term, my spending has gone up. I spent a lot of money at Dollar General and on clearance stuff at WalMart and KB - all 2003 and earlier sets. I did buy one 2004 new gray set ((URL) 4492>), so I could see the new colors in person and have some (...) (21 years ago, 14-Mar-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.market.shopping, FTX)

Re: How have the new colors affected your recent buying decisions?

(...) Last year I spent $11,000 on in store Lego including S@H. Another 2 grand or so on the secondary market. The year before, I spent about 12 grand on in store sets, and around 1 grand on the secondary market. So far this year I have spent around (...)   Re: How have the new colors affected your recent buying decisions?

(...) Maybe it's supposed to be a subliminal attractiveness... they will like the colors better but not realise why? If so that would be a best of both worlds thing I guess. I haven't seen that theory advanced much, if at all. (21 years ago, 14-Mar-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: How have the new colors affected your recent buying decisions?

My shopping behaviour hasn't changed a bit. Apart from the odd Technic set I bought (the back-hoe and the 8868 from E-vil-bay), my Lego collection has been grown just like previous years; every minifig-scale set that was brought out, ended up in my (...)
