Re: No gimmicks, just a free 40 bucks.

(...) Hmm, I'm not entirely clear on why the above quoted isn't an auction announcement. The larger post -- on a whole -- obviously isn't, but in my mind, it certainly does _contain_ an auction announcement, albeit one with a disclaimer. It's not an (...) (...) Hrm. No offense, but how is "just in a hurry" different from "just lazy"? (The word "lazy" being a word someone else used recently to explain how his auction announcement wound up in .buy-sell-trade...) And should that be a viable (...) (25 years ago, 16-Feb-00, to lugnet.market.theory)

(...) I think we're going to have a hard time totally eliminating references to auctions, and perhaps we have to look at content and purpose of the post over all.   Re: No gimmicks, just a free 40 bucks.

(...) The X offer expires in, what, 3 days... time was of the essence to let people know that windows are not the only thing available.   Re: No gimmicks, just a free 40 bucks.

Well, that implies that even using the word "auction" (whoops!) or the url for an auction related site like eBay.com (whoops again!!!) constitutes an auction (whoops a third time!!!) post, which I think is totally false. -- Paul Davidson Todd Lehman (...) (...) I've tried twice so far, but both times, X.com reported back an error, saying that (a) their DB was still somewhat under construction and in flux, and (b) that my name didn't match my SS# (which it actually did). --Todd (25 years ago, 17-Feb-00, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade)

Re: No gimmicks, just a free 40 bucks.

Finding out someone's SSN is pretty easy, so not using it on the net really isn't going to help you much. I'm sure if I took less than an hour, I could find several ways to get SSNs. I have no need to, so I'm not going to waste the time. (...) -- | (...) (25 years ago, 17-Feb-00, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade)
