| | Re: Poor Service to Toy Shops = No Lego
|
| I have to say that one of my regular stops reports the same experience. They have cut back substantially on what they carry. Ironically, a small "chain" of Toy Stores (I think 4 stores) that does carry them jacks up the prices ABOVE the listed Lego (...) (22 years ago, 3-Jun-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)

| Wow, I though it was just us... I work in a retail collectables shop. While we don't carry lego, our main buisness over the last few years has been high quality diecast model racing cars. What's interesting is how our fights with suppliers parallels (...) (22 years ago, 3-Jun-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)

| | Re: Why the absence of LD in their own newsgroup?
|
| Who knows, maybe the quiet from Lego Direct has nothing to do with real or imagined friction from AFOL's, restrictive posting policies on LUGNET, pestering questions about the product lines and corporate policy, etc. I just figured they have been (...) | (...) I'd disagree. I think we've seen a lot in the last couple of years that indicates that Lego is reaching out to the AFOL market. Bulk ordering, Sculptures, Legends, specials like the Super Chief and the Rebel Blockade Runner, involvement with (...) (22 years ago, 6-Jun-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)

| What Jim has stated was done so perfectly that it doesn't need any "me too"s, but here is my total agreement with his words anyway. And I think that the administrative reasons for creating this newsgroup and also limiting official TLC access to (...) (22 years ago, 6-Jun-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)

The only things that are location specific are special items like the RIS that the US happened to have a small inventory of. Jake --- Jake McKee Senior (...) Think about it, we speculate on the next release in any given line, we spread around leaked photos of upcoming sets, when they start (...) (22 years ago, 15-Jun-02, to lugnet.lego.direct)

I think what you consider "lack of care" is actually the LEGO company realising that there are markets outside the US, and that if they don't stop being a US-centric company, they will end up (...)
