I remember orering rom Lego several times as a kid...trees and flowers,
red/green/yellow 10x20x1 megabrick/plates, the small yellow Legoland
forklift, etc
2 experiences I remember best:
I recall getting a catalog in 1975 or 1976 advertising a "NEW" Yellow
covered idea book...and a builders club.
I remember my father and mother helping me to compose the letter to order
the idea book...you were also asked to include your B-day and age...
I received the idea book a month later...several months later...the week of
my B-day in Sept., I received an envelope from Lego w/ a Tipper Truck and a
note from "Susan Williams" wishing me a Happy Birthday...I still have the
idea book (very beat up) and I still have the tipper truck disassembled in
an open box...lol
I also remember a couple years later I ordered the circular denim
playmat/bag w/ the red draw strings...I thought this was the coolest thing
in the world! (i'm 20+ years older now, and I still think it's cool!)
I remember my parents seeing this item and ordering it right away (I never
had to sweet talk them on the virtues of this one = )
John
(I hope none of these memories grow dim as I get older, they were a couple
of those great childhood moments)
