Hello people, You can find pictures of my latest custom, a 'not so mini' mini Rebel Blockader Runner, here: (URL) recently been obsessed with creating instructions and this is my first custom that comes complete with LDraw file, parts list and PDF (...) (22 years ago, 17-Dec-02, to lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.starwars, lugnet.inst) !

I figured out what my problem was, in my POVRAY.ini file I had the settings initial_frame = 0 final_frame = 0 initial_clock = 0 final_clock = 0 included, so POVRAY kept rending the images with Stepping and putting an number on the end of my .bmp (...) (22 years ago, 14-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.inst)

Hi James, Please email me two files and some information: 1. The test.ldr file 2. config.lpb from the directory in which you installed Lpub 3. The name of the full path which test.ldr exists. 4.   LPub Instruction Images errors help
 
I have a test project called test.ldr with 4 steps. When I run LPub and use the Instruction Images feature everything seems to go just fine for the first step. But after the first step is rendered I get the error message "Image file test.bmp not (...) (22 years ago, 13-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.inst)

Thanks for clarification on this Kevin. I didn't realise that different settings only affected 'Complete Assembly' and not also the Instruction Images' (...) for building instructions. This makes sense and now I know how this works, I have done this (...) (22 years ago, 7-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.inst)

Hi Richard, One of the things that is ill-defined for LPub is which controls affect Complete Image, and which controls affect Building Instructions. The camera settings you refer to only affect complete image. LPub assumes that you will use rotation (...) (22 years ago, 6-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.inst)

Kevin, Well done on this newer version - it is a HUGE improvement over the previous earlier version and I no longer get the calculation errors I used to get with the numeric fields. Willy Tschager has been testing LPub for bugs and trying to make it die, which is a *huge* help to me and you. He reported the following bugs in LPub 2.1.0.1. (...) I think I have this fixed. I found a problem with some initialization issues. LPub is supposed to remember where it found these things in a file in LPub's install directory called config.lpb. Hi! I downloaded the new version and installed it. Every time I start it I have to specify where parts.lst and/or l3p.exe are. I tried it on the car, left every default option and got a message when I ran Generate > Complete Assembly: Could not find (...) (22 years ago, 28-Nov-02, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.inst)

WOW! I just did a query on the Building Instructions Portal and found that there have been more than 42,000 click thrus from the 200 Building Instruction links on the B.I. Portal! Hopefully within the next week or two. I've been very busy over the last few months co-authoring a book on LEGO CAD tools. We're rapildy approaching the deadline, so I have little time for LPub. I have added buffer exgange in my development version. It works except for one problem, the graying of previous steps parts gets messed up. I have to fix this. Wow... I just studied the file, and I'm pretty sure I get it! Thanks Miguel! They do seem like very powerful commands, if you want to do instructions straight from MLCAD, and hopefully with the LPub support it will make rendering instructions with (...) (...) Hi Miguel, This is not quite true. Ghosting in submodels works the same whether you are using MPD, or the old fashioned mechanism of LDraw files using other LDraw files as parts. Hi, The first you should know is that models with instructions steps that use CLEAR, BUFFER EXCHANGE and GHOST commands generally look really weird when viewed in "Place" mode. I've read the explanation for buffer exhange and I think I understand. In view mode, as you "step" through your design, MLCad displays the new parts added in each step. I have modified LPub to restore the original pvengine.ini, so as long as the program can exit normally (not crash) it should appear as though LPub never ran. (...) I don't have an example of the Buffer Exchange, I've never used it. The model I pointed to before has an example of the Rotation Steps though. (...) This has NOT been fixed yet, but the soultion is very very simple. After using LPub and you want to use POV WITHOUT LPUb just open up POV-Ray and click on the INI icon button. I have added logging support to LPub. LPub now creates a file called lpub.log, where it drops notes as to how far it made it in the start up process before it dies. It is version 2.0.0.66. Please try this new version of LPub and send me the log (...) (22 years ago, 21-Oct-02, to lugnet.inst)

I never really thought instructions on how to use Lego would be needed, but I guess back in the Samsonite days they felt they needed to teach people on how to use them. Hi, I wanted to mention that LPub is useful even if you are not working on a book, or web pages. It can be used to make building instructions from other peoples' DATs. Hi Dave and Ahui, LPub is not supposed to do this. Lars Hassing reported this long ago, and I thought I had fixed it. WHen LPub starts it makes a backup of the current pvengine.ini file. When LPub exits it is supposed to restore this file to its (...) (22 years ago, 4-Oct-02, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.inst)

I worked on the RIS book that Syngress is going to publish and so I had extensive experience working with LPub. This tool really is amazing.
