hi gary,

valuable info but it still does give no clues about the sheet numbers! I
have authored most of the flags for LDraw:

http://www.holly-wood.it/ldraw/authored-en.html

where I used the sticker sheet number for the parts number. since we have
also the japanese, US and belgium flag at the PT but no sheet number at hand
we would like to know if the second sheet number of the #939 is identical to
the second sheet in #940:

and if the first sticker sheet number:

is the same in both sets? any answers?

bye, w.

Willy,

I purchased the #939 in Germany about 20 years ago, but unfortunately used all the country stickers and attached them to flags. All that is except for the LEGO Sticker, which is still attached to the sticker sheet.

That’s why I only have the 2nd sheet of the #939. And that sheet only still has the LEGO flag on it (unlike your #940 sheet that has all Scandinavian flags but no LEGO flag!).

My #939 2nd Sheet has “004159” as the sheet number.

I no longer have the #939 1st sheet.

But here is what I think the scenario is for the #939/#940 sticker sheets:

#940 Sheet 1: 004158 (certain)

#940 Sheet 2: 003432 (certain)

#939 Sheet 1: 004158 (not 100% certain)

#939 Sheet 2: 004159 (certain)

Now, here’s an interesting thing... there’s a seller on Bricklink selling a MISB British #939!!! Unfortunately it is sealed, so it’s not as though we could ask the seller to rip the box open! :-(

It would be very interesting to see if that set contained an Australian and an Irish flag, as well as other sticker sheet numbers!!! :-)

Cheers, Gary Istok

Well I just got an EMAIL from Fred Wiedemeyer from Canada who purchased the sealed British #939 on Bricklink. But unfortunately it was not totally sealed and someone took some stickers off of one of the sticker sheets.

But here is what Fred told me about the UK/AUS #939:

There were 3 sticker sheets (instead of the 2 usually found in a #939 or #940 set). They were:

1) 004158 - with the flags of Germany, Netherlands, Britain, Austria, Switzerland and Italy.

2) 004159 - with the flags of Portugal, Belgium, France, Japan, USA, and LEG0.

3) 004219 - with the flags of Ireland and Australia.

This third “004219” sticker sheet had the sheet number in blue (instead of black for the others in the #939/#940 sets). And this sticker sheet was much smaller, since it only had the stickers for these 2 countries.

This leads me to believe that the Canadian #939 sets would probably also have had 3 sticker sheets... the 004158 and 004159, as well as a 3rd smaller sticker sheet that has stickers for one or two Canadian flags. This sheet still remains a mystery.

Thank you very much Fred Wiedemeyer, for helping to solve this very interesting puzzle!! Fred, since you live in Canada, if you ever come across a Canadian #939 (or the Canada flag sticker sheet), please do let us know! :-D

Thanks again!

Gary Istok
