  Reconstructing second hand LEGO sets

I recently bought a medium size jumble of LEGO pieces and am trying to sleuth out and reconstruct the original sets (there are no instructions). I've done extensive browsing through the Fibblesnork LEGO Guide identifying candidate sets from some of (...) (25 years ago, 19-Jun-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Reconstructing second hand LEGO sets

One thing I can suggest.. someone else could probably give you the exact addy... Looks around for Todd :) there is a inventory group.. gives you inventories on some of the sets.. I'm not sure how many are listed there though... you could print out a (...) (25 years ago, 19-Jun-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Reconstructing second hand LEGO sets

For the sets I think I've identified I've gone to K Loch's Instruction Scans site and worked through the reconstructions substituting off-color parts as needed just to make progress. But the trouble is not with the sets I can easily pick out from (...) (25 years ago, 19-Jun-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Reconstructing second hand LEGO sets

(...) There is the LEGO Parts List link on James Jessiman's page. This list references part numbers by what colors and sets they came in, and how many in the set. Sadly, with James passing, the list has not been updated in a long time. But with (...) (25 years ago, 19-Jun-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Reconstructing second hand LEGO sets

(...) Thanks. That is exactly what I'm looking for! Now I can look at sets containing various unique parts I have and evaluate which sets are most likely based on the other parts I have. I previously sleuthed out that I'm almost certain I've got (...) (25 years ago, 20-Jun-99, to lugnet.general)

(...) No, I don't believe it is exhaustive. And many numbers used (element numbers) have been changed. (...) Good question. James may have had a database, or maybe he just kept track in some simple way. I think Joshua did help him some with that (...) (25 years ago, 21-Jun-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Reconstructing second hand LEGO sets

(...) It's not exhaustive, from any point-of-view. I think James documented the sets he had, for the pieces he could put online. Awhile ago, I created a utility to reformat the data by set. It quickly became apparent there were pieces missing for (...) (25 years ago, 21-Jun-99, to lugnet.general)

Brian, don't rule out the possibility that the former owner had a set of just minifigs: 6703, for example, would take up four different colour Futuron figs. (...) I've looked st the minifig sets, but mine don't seem to match. I've got 10 futuron minifigs: 2 all black torsos, 2 all blue torsos, 1 blue/white torso, and 5 black/white torsos. (...) Black/white torsos or white/black torsos? White with a black triangle would be from 6810 Lazer Ranger. Black with white triangles are Space Police I minifigs. Blue/white torsos are more common, one each in 6828 Twin-wing spoiler and 6884 (...) (25 years ago, 24-Jun-99, to lugnet.general)

(...) Ah, Fibblesnork, with data to fuel and resolve endless debates, tells me: The hands are different! Black for Futuron, white for SP1. I realize they're removable but it's a good indicator.
