I don't *want* to buy Megablocks... I want to buy LEGO sets of the same

reputation I will be very careful how I spend my dollars.

Mmm.  Well.  At least it is only the set design, and not the product itself
that has our opinions on the downslope. ...Whoa!  Now you hold on there TLC!
Don't you dare think about changing your recipe for high precision molded • ABS!!

Disagree.

Seems like in the last year or two, I've experienced (and heard about) many
more problems with the bricks - warped pieces, mismolded parts, parts
without 'clutch power' - than in previous years.

I think LEGO has definitely cut corners in the QA department.  And it's
noticeable to the consumer.

It's interesting, I've heard that a lot, but though the vast majority of the
brick I now own have been purchased in the last two years (probably more new
than S/H, but I haven't counted), I've yet to come across any "bad bricks".
I've had a few packing problems, mostly instruction & stickers being chewed up
in the new "minimalist" boxes, and one set having one incorrect bag. I only
have a comparitively small collection to a lot of people here, but I just
haven't seen the problems others have (maybe I'm just lucky!).

OTOH, I've just found an interesting "feature" while building the deck of my
bridge (http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=3057), involving large
combinations of bricks & plates, I'll post details when I get some photos.
However, I this doesn't seem to be a problem with the occasional brick / plate
being badly formed, but an overall design thing. More later.

Regards

ROSCO
