These aren't pieces that are getting stuck on your shoe tread or your
pant cuff are they? :)

At least three other times:

I've found LEGO in the 'trash' on the ground after a neighbor got
evicted from their apartment (I didn't go through their stuff- they
already grabbed it from the sidewalk)

My wife found a bunch of parts on the bike trail she used to ride when
we lived in VA.

I forget where it was found, but I have two black 3x6 plates with
chopped corners that were picked up in a parking lot.  They are crushed
and unusable.  I might be filling in some info here but I think it might
have been in the IKEA parking lot near the VA Lego outlet.
