  TLG is loosing money!

This morning, I read in the newspaper that TLG Denmark will have to "dumb" 1,000 of its 10,000 workers due to bad commercial results! TLG itself is not in great danger, but it has lost a lot of customers to electronic toys and computergames. IMHO: (...) (26 years ago, 19-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

I read in the WSJ a couple of weeks ago that the big toy stores like Toys R Us and WalMart etc also had a bad season, people are getting really bored with all the junk they sell, whereas the smaller speciatlity toy shops improved sales. Items like (...) (26 years ago, 19-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

I'm quite happy that my 5yr old son is into Legos. He comes up with some pretty interesting ships. Though (by MY standards) they might be cheesy, they are very creative. He does like to play with computer games/Playstation. I think the biggest (...) (26 years ago, 19-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

(...) Lacking children of my own so far, my test group is my three nephews(aged 8, 8, and 10). I have also noticed the attention deficit problem, but with an interesting twist. They keep coming back to the Lego. Other toys regularly get abandoned in (...) (26 years ago, 19-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

  Re: TLG is loosing money!

I was interested to see the topic of Brio trains come up during this thread. My son (just turned four) was big into Brio trains for about 18-24 months. He stopped playing with them when he was three. I am not sure why his interest wained but they (...) (26 years ago, 20-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

Snip (...) How illustrative, 6550 not being a Town Jr. set :-) If Town '98/99 was like 6550, the Town Jr. debate would never have come up. Eric (26 years ago, 20-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

(...) In that case, why doesn't TLG make one or two Jr. sets in every theme? That way, young children wouldn't just be limited to Town. And leave non-Jr. sets alone. I don't mind the existence of Town Jr. as much as I mind the loss of (...) (26 years ago, 20-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)
