I seem to recall that they had a successful firing a few years back from a
static ground position (i.e. it only pointed up), where they blinded a test
satellite. I'm not exactly sure if this is the same weapon system, but
Lockeed and TRW were both involved.
I'm just glad that we're now getting 747-mounted laser guns. You know, for
the incoming asteroids. :-,

| (...) I think you are right. I heard about this ABL thing during my "rocket scientist" (heh heh... yes I was one of them:-) days, so it was at least 5 years ago, so it's been around for a while. And again I'm pretty sure that I read it was intended (...) (24 years ago, 27-Jul-00, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)
