  Re: Q: Piece Identification

(...) This piece seems to defy standard description. For a long time, I thought of it as a camera piece (and it does get used that way, sometimes). Some classic-space-heads call it a thruster. As much as I like qualitative part-names(1), it's (...) (26 years ago, 26-Oct-98, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Cancel and supersedes

(...) Or you can just post a follow-up which says, "Oops, I goofed. Here's the correction." Which would be the more proper approach, if more than a trivial amount of time has passed since the erroneous posting. I've not used either cancel or (...) (26 years ago, 26-Oct-98, to lugnet.general)

Re: New vs. old (was Re: More 1999 Figs... ?)

(...) So you do not like new specialized pieces, is that correct? Well, I remember when the space theme appeared for the first time. The magnitude of new specialized pieces was huge! And I loved it! The more specialized pieces, the better. In my (...) (26 years ago, 26-Oct-98, to lugnet.general)

Re: New vs. old (was Re: More 1999 Figs... ?)

(...) Those in general, plus other Insectoids-secific parts. I don't know for sure the magnitude of Lego's mold obsessiveness, since I don't own one. I think it was definitely a step in the wrong direction for them. Maybe if enough classic lovers (...) (26 years ago, 26-Oct-98, to lugnet.general)

  Timmy

I'm a newbie, so which one is Timmy? The mini-fig head with white hair? Thanks. (26 years ago, 26-Oct-98, to lugnet.general)

Re: New vs. old (was Re: More 1999 Figs... ?)

(...) And exactly WHAT is wrong with a spoiler on a Model T? Especially if it has a bigblock, big'n'littles, and runs over 150 in teh 1/4 ;-) (26 years ago, 26-Oct-98, to lugnet.general)

  Re: RC Car question

(...) Someone on RTL sez that they all use the same frequency. :( It's possible though that there are several standard frequencies, and it was just bad luck that the ones tested were the same. (26 years ago, 25-Oct-98, to lugnet.general)

  Re: RC Car question

I would assume it would be a collection of FEQ. but I have noticed, LegoG has only a single car racing on the box. This could be a bad sign. I'll look around my San Jose to see if anyone else has one and I'll race him. we'll see -- Shayn Raney (...) (...) (26 years ago, 25-Oct-98, to lugnet.general)

Re: New vs. old (was Re: More 1999 Figs... ?)

(...) I agree -- and, they've opened the whole sexism can-o-worms by making only a tiny percentage of the people female. Back when the faces were generic, that was totally up to the person playing. (26 years ago, 25-Oct-98, to lugnet.general)

Re: New vs. old (was Re: More 1999 Figs... ?)

(...) I dunno. They've got the legos, which would be more useful if they were movable, but still can be applied elsewhere. And the wings are pretty special-purpose, but they look cool anyway. :) What other specialized pieces are you referring to? (26 years ago, 25-Oct-98, to lugnet.general)

Re: New vs. old (was Re: More 1999 Figs... ?)

(...) I like the variety of newer faces for lego minifigs, but in some cases, I think TLG's gone too far*. I mean, printing a very intricate face on the standard yellow LEGO head seems a bit like putting a spoiler on a Model-T IMO. That's not to say (...) (26 years ago, 25-Oct-98, to lugnet.general)

  Well.

This is my first post to lugnet. I've been lurking since it came online. I have to say I like lugnet so far. It's relatively organized and has better people/control than RTL does :) (Not that I hate RTL, it's just a tad bit disorganized) I've been (...) (26 years ago, 25-Oct-98, to lugnet.general)

Re: New vs. old (was Re: More 1999 Figs... ?)

(...) I don't see much in Insectoids. The main reason is that they have so many specialized pieces. If they built the same shapes with the pieces they had five years ago, I would be all for them. Lego can't really go anywhere with Ninja, what other (...) (26 years ago, 25-Oct-98, to lugnet.general)

New vs. old (was Re: More 1999 Figs... ?)

(...) I do like the classic minifigs, but I do like a lot of the new ones too. I'd love to see a re-issue of classic sets, but on the whole I'm pleased with the current line. Sure, town is looking terrible, and the last few years of space and castle (...) (26 years ago, 24-Oct-98, to lugnet.general)

  Re: More 1999 Figs... ?

(...) I couldn't disagree more. Lego should go back to simplified minifigs, they look much better. I think it is a mistake for them to go away from the classics they built their toy empire on. Also, I have noticed that since I have been off of RTL (...) (26 years ago, 24-Oct-98, to lugnet.general)

  Q: Piece Identification

I am wondering what the proper identification is for the following piece, it is used in alot of sets but the one I have handy is set 6818 Cyborg Scout and the radar dish is attached to it. The piece is a black 1x2x.6 brick with 7 studs and a (...) (26 years ago, 24-Oct-98, to lugnet.general)

  Re: More 1999 Figs... ?

(...) I want to believe. They look really good. (26 years ago, 24-Oct-98, to lugnet.general)

  Re: More 1999 Figs... ?

(...) So am I. It looks like the next year's installation of the continued downgrade in quality and imagination that Lego has been dishing out. Some of the space people had EYEBALLS! AAAHHHHH! I'll be happy when they make a minifig scale shuttle (...) (26 years ago, 24-Oct-98, to lugnet.general)

  More 1999 Figs... ?

Check out this URL again... (URL) stuff, new themes, new figs... There is a lot to ponder about here: 1) 2 new ninja colors - red and white. A new Ninja minifig set? 2) Lauch crew - more... 3) Orange usage in figs (go vols?) 4) Rock Raiders - (...) (26 years ago, 24-Oct-98, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Ninja polybag

(...) I just -barely- got mine from US S@H back in the fall of 1993 when they were almost out. Darn things were only like US$2.25 I think... But even if it's going to cost $10-$20 to get one from Japan, it's just cool to know it's at least possible. (...) (26 years ago, 24-Oct-98, to lugnet.general)
