Re: BW04? (Re: Saturday General Session Announcements)

(...) Hey, there's raisins! Don't be dissin' the raisins! More seriously Fresno is kind of the gateway to Yosemite, though I don't know if I'd want to take a trunk full of MOCs camping with me. Bruce (23 years ago, 11-Aug-03, to lugnet.events.brickswest)

  Re: Saturday General Session Announcements

(...) I wouldn't be surprised if many BAYLUG, LUGOLA, BAYLTC, SCTLC or San Diego's upcoming LUG joined in to, but I still stand by my original statement as being factually correct: There are no LUGs in the Portland area. I'm well aware of PNLTC - I (...) (23 years ago, 11-Aug-03, to lugnet.events.brickswest, lugnet.events.brickfest, FTX)

Re: BW04? (Re: Saturday General Session Announcements)

(...) Whenever it is held, the weekend of Valentine's Day is pretty bad. I didn't even bother to mention Brickswest to my non-LEGO SO as I knew how thrilled she'd be with the suggestion. Bruce (23 years ago, 11-Aug-03, to lugnet.events.brickswest)

  Re: Saturday General Session Announcements

(...) I'm not really party to any of the other arguments, but this statement is factually incorrect. There are quite a few PNLTC members in the PDX area, and another PNLTC contingent and SEALUG are only 3 hours north (in Seattle, obviously). You can (...)   Re: Saturday General Session Announcements

(...) No problem. I figured that was the case considering I had three posts in a row. (...) Exactly my point. A BrickFest event put on the west coast on the same weekend we were anticipating a BW event without any previous mention and entirely (...)   Re: BW04? (Re: Saturday General Session Announcements)

(...) Stop trying to be a drama queen here Purple. Nobody is doing anything you are syaing, and this thread is far from what you claim it is. All people are trying to do is figure out what is going on. You have no idea how silent things have been - (...) (23 years ago, 11-Aug-03, to lugnet.events.brickswest)

Re: BW04? (Re: Saturday General Session Announcements)

(...) If it makes you feel better, go ahead and think of me as being the bad guy here. All I know is that before I said anything this thread had degenerated into a bunch of people pissing and moaning about how they were being wronged. Now they're (...)   Re: Saturday General Session Announcements

First of all, Dave, I'd like to apoligize to you if you felt I was jumping down your throat personally. I read LUGNET from the main News page, I got sick of seeing people complaining about the situation without actually trying to do anything about (...)   Re: Saturday General Session Announcements

(...) Here is my senile recollection of those historical events. Many of us batted around the idea of having a west coast brickfest type convention. While in infancy our East coast counter parts voiced loud opposition to everything from our desire (...) (...) I'm in total agree ment there. I've already started preliminary plans using the connections I could reach on a Sunday. I'll expect better responses tomorrow. (...) How about September 6th? It's good to see someone is giving a thumbs up to my idea :-) It's also good to see this topic starting getting some attention. Let's go back in history to when the BW idea (...)   Re: Saturday General Session Announcements

<snip> Why Portland???? What possible draw is Portland???? To me the draw of BW was LLCA!! I'm not one of those 'same old, same old', but I can understand that feeling. To be fair, another draw IS the store/being able to buy sets there as well as (...) (23 years ago, 10-Aug-03, to lugnet.events.brickfest, lugnet.events.brickswest, lugnet.org.ca.nalug)

BW04? (Re: Saturday General Session Announcements)

(...) Exactly. Look PD - you know less than we do here. You do not know the history here. You have 0 intrest in this, so why are you trying to stir the pot? You made incorrect statments in your post, thats because you do not know the history here. I (...) (23 years ago, 10-Aug-03, to lugnet.events.brickswest)

(...) Fair enough. Though that wasn't what was presented to us yesterday, but fine, we'll go with your analysis for now. (...) Partly true.   Re: BW04? (Re: Saturday General Session Announcements)

I'd really like to hear more from folks that aren't in Southern Cal, Northern Cal or the NW as to what they are looking for in attending a brick con. So far, it's mainly us westcoasters that have been commenting about why it should or shouldn't be (...) (23 years ago, 10-Aug-03, to lugnet.events.brickswest)

(...) Yeah, Adrian, this is the part I've got a problem with. I've heard NOTHING from Steve about this and yesterday was the first word I'd gotten that there was no Southwestern Brick Event being planned for 2004. I've got a BIG problem whenever (...) (...) It's partly that, Dan. Do you remember how great it was to have the public viewing at 2003 where all the younger builders and their parents flocked around you to ask 'How do you do that?'   Re: BW04? (Re: Saturday General Session Announcements)

There has been so much said I don't know where to start. First LLCA is not the best place to have the show. If you could hold the show totaly in the park it may work but you can't...NOT ENOUGH ROOM.
