One confusing aspect might be the events name. Why BrickWorld? Why not
something more regional, like the organizers of NWBrickCon chose? Not only
doesnt it sound like it wants to be regional, it sounds like it wants to be
international!

John & the whole community,
We want to apologize on behalf of ourselves and the Brickworld Team. If
anything we have done to create a great public event in Chicago has offended
you, we are truly and sincerely sorry. Our goals were to give the children of
Chicago exposure to the great creations of the AFOL community to spawn future
AFOLs and to give AFOLs more centric to the midwest along with anyone else that
wanted to come an opportunity to be part of a great event.
You asked where the name Brickworld came from...honestly, I dont remember who
came up with it...but it came out of a brainstorming session amongt the team.
Why did we choose it? For exactly the reason John states - because it sounded
big and international - because it caused a vision of a really grand event that
the whole world would someday want to be a part of. Plus, it just sounded
really cool!!!
I am concerned about the negative implications of several recent posts on the
Brickfest forum in their references to Brickworld. Brickworld is a rebirth of
the Chicago House of Bricks event. We were a corner attraction there and yet
we drew the most public attention. We recognized that the public in Chicago
would really love an event like this. But, we also recognize that it is our
duty to make the event worthwhile for the AFOL community that attends and we are
doing our best to give back to you what you will put into Brickworld.
For those providing support to Brickworld already - THANK YOU. For those that
will provide support to Brickworld - THANK YOU.
We regret what seems to be an impending 1 year hiatus for Brickfest on the east
coast as most of us planned to be a part of it also as we have in years past.
We wish the best of luck to the Brickfest Team at PDX and in future endeavors -
we will continue to be part of that team ourselves.
Again - thanks for your support and we apologize for anything we may have done
to cause negativity within the community.
Best Regards, Bryan & Adam
Co-coordinators for Brickworld
