 Dear LEGO / 1937 (-20)
Re: Lego Direct (was Re: Georgia LEGO Outlet is Cool!)

(...) Well, here's hopefully an objective rant... The fact that LEGO has set up outlet stores means that they are bleeding. The outlet stores are a desperate attempt to limit that bleeding. The outlet stores sell obsolete stock at discounted prices (...) (25 years ago, 28-Mar-00, to lugnet.dear-lego) !

Re: Lego Direct (was Re: Georgia LEGO Outlet is Cool!)

(...) Larry gets "preorders" and you don't. Why? Because you don't spend Big Bucks. Same difference. (...) This has nothing to do with buying LEGO, or anything else except stocks. Larry isn't getting "insider information", he's getting a chance to (...) (25 years ago, 28-Mar-00, to lugnet.dear-lego) !

Re: Lego Direct (was Re: Georgia LEGO Outlet is Cool!)

(...) Objective rants aren't as much fun to write. (...) 'Wrong' is an innapropriate word choice - for short-term profit, selling lots of things to one person is better. For keeping as much fans happy as possible, spreading it out more equally is (...) (25 years ago, 28-Mar-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

(...) playing (...) on (...) would (...) Here! Here! I am also from GA. I see this practice as wrong for a number of reasons. But the main is that it completely penalizes Georgians. I have spent close to $500 in there since it has opened. Never at (...) (25 years ago, 27-Mar-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Lego Direct (was Re: Georgia LEGO Outlet is Cool!)

A couple of thoughts here: 1. I have no side in this argument. I understand the business practices of the manager. I disagree with them. As I said, I wouldn't be able to convince you if I was God, anyway. Therefore I will let you have the false (...) (25 years ago, 27-Mar-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Lego Direct (was Re: Georgia LEGO Outlet is Cool!)

(...) I will... (...) But why should the "system" *not* reward the "more spend happy customers"? Larry spends a whole lot of money at the Outlet. The manager of the outlet has a job: sell LEGO. He is able to do this job *and* do a favor for a good (...) (25 years ago, 27-Mar-00, to lugnet.dear-lego) !

Re: Lego Direct (was Re: Georgia LEGO Outlet is Cool!)

(...) Well, not sure which Mike you're talking about, but I personally wasn't called. I personally would like to have gotten some more 6078's. But I personally don't mind that someone else got the call before or instead of me. The only thing I (...) (25 years ago, 27-Mar-00, to lugnet.dear-lego) !

Re: Lego Direct (was Re: Georgia LEGO Outlet is Cool!)

While I expect that in a discussion of this length no one will read this, here goes: I see two sides to this argument. One, Larry and whoever else wants to keep there arrangement intact, ensuring the greatest satisfaction. The other side, including (...) (25 years ago, 27-Mar-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Lego Direct (was Re: Georgia LEGO Outlet is Cool!)

(...) If you're talking about the first time around for these sets in the GA store (as opposed to the 2nd time round, or the stock that the VA store had), I would say there was not an unreasonable distribution of them. By the time I called to order (...) (25 years ago, 27-Mar-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Lego Direct (was Re: Georgia LEGO Outlet is Cool!)

(...) This is one argument I am not getting involved in. Way too many "ad hominem" attacks against the person. But I will say (in an off handed compliment) that Larry is much nicer in person than in print. :-) I don't think you folks are going to (...) (25 years ago, 27-Mar-00, to lugnet.dear-lego) !

Re: Lego Direct (was Re: Georgia LEGO Outlet is Cool!)

(...) Richard, You're kidding, right? We're talking about a *very* limited quantity of sets. Catalog inserts? Those cost money and take plenty of time to make and stuff into the catalogs - and by the time they get out, the sets will probably be (...) (25 years ago, 27-Mar-00, to lugnet.dear-lego) !

Re: Lego Direct (was Re: Georgia LEGO Outlet is Cool!)

(...) I think its interesting that you feel the need to "retaliate" about something that is actually addressed "Dear-Lego" and concerns the manner in which TLC does business with us fans. You "few" guys are pretty reflexive about this point I am (...) (25 years ago, 27-Mar-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

(...) When the facts about how reality works are running against you, and you don't want to admit it, go with ad hominem, eh? As I pointed out in .debate, (1)(2) you're in good company. "slithers", "silverback preening", "virility"? I'm sensing a (...) (25 years ago, 27-Mar-00, to lugnet.dear-lego) !

(...) In lugnet.dear-lego, Mike Stanley writes: (...) Sheesh. Even if you were, I still don't care. My hypothetical was about outlet stores and TLC favoring the few when they could favor a greater number of persons. And I really don't resent it. I (...)   Re: Elements I'd like to see...

Gary, I'm not interested to start my own "Customize brick compagnie" ;-) But I can tell the Lego community how I do it. Customize theses bricks is not something easy but, I'm sure if you use the right tool, and if you realy take the time to be (...) (25 years ago, 27-Mar-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Elements I'd like to see...

(...) Have you looked at the new(ish) Technic half-beams? These are basically 1xN female-female plates, except their height is 1/2 the width of a 1x1 brick. In LDraw measuring, regular plates are 8LDU tall, 1x bricks are 20LDU wide. The half beams (...) (25 years ago, 27-Mar-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Georgia LEGO Outlet is Cool!

(...) I suggest you take your complaint to the store. Even if they can't change the policy of shipping within the state, they should at least be willing to let you reserve items to pick up within a week, and therefore should be able to call you (of (...)   Re: Lego Direct (was Re: Georgia LEGO Outlet is Cool!)

(...) Richard, you still don't get it. This is in fact what S@H does, and in fact because of their pricing scheme, they make more of the person who orders 10 of set X than 10 people who order 1 each of set X. Why? Well first, the shipping cost isn't (...) (25 years ago, 27-Mar-00, to lugnet.dear-lego) !
