Calm down... calm down. There is a solution to your problem.
May I suggest that you buy a few of the basic brick buckets?
With such, you can build all the housing for your minifigs that they
could ever want.
Since there are no minifigs in the brick buckets (almost always
available at TRU before Christmas... I'm not sure if they are still
there now), you should be quite able to catch up.
My two older boys, who have recently moved into the same bedroom just so
that they can dedicate an entire room to LEGO, were having this problem
a couple of years ago. I bought them some brick buckets for Christmas
that year and they were quite pleased to remedy the homeless minifig
sitation.
