We also need a standard that once a color is named something, the name
doesn't get changed. I call your medium blue light blue because at the
time, it was the lightest blue. Sure, there is a new, lighter blue in
the new Belville sets, but I would have been inclined to call that very
light blue.
There's also another blue in Belville, the blue of the 4x8 plate in
Milimy's Bedroom, and a couple other sets. It's a similar shade to sand
blue, but without as much grey (I think it does have some grey in it).
To be honest, I wish TLC would stop releasing so many colors. I think
new colors can be good, but I would rather see them introduced slowly
and methodically. I liked that several sand colors came out about the
same time for example (though we are missing sand yellow and sand
orange). I'd also like to see a larger piece variety.
I've been thinking of collecting all the colors I have together, but it
would be hard to make a permanent display since there are sure to be
some Scala or Belville colors I only have one or two pieces of. The only
color I know I don't have is Maersk Blue.
