Personally, I think BrickLink needs to change their color names. Peeron
approached this problem by VERY EXPLICITLY renaming "Gray" to "OldGray",
"DkGray" to "OldDkGray" and "Brown" to "OldBrown".
The problem is of course as you point out, that people who are new to the hobby
won't know jack squat about the color change. They'll crack open a new set and
see pieces that look "Light Gray" and list them as such. What's worse, is that
BrickLink's solution of calling the new gray "Light Bluish Gray" gives
PHENOMENAL confusion, because (1) the new light gray looks in *no* way "bluish",
except when you compare it to *old* light gray, and (2) sand blue really DOES
look like it might be described as "Light Bluish Gray".
By calling the colors "New Gray" or "Old Gray" (or whatever), you've made it
clear that there IS a distinction that people should be aware of. You're forcing
the issue on them. As it is, BrickLink is just setting itself up to look
disreputable, because newer sellers will be forced into learning the hard way,
and getting negative feedback.
