The Washington Monument was recently opened again to the public with a new overhaul including elevators. The Smithsonian (...) Rick, Don't know where you are coming from, but would driving be a cheaper alternative? You also might be able to catch a ride or carpool with anybody driving...(I'm already planning on attending--and will probably be driving from Atlanta) As for (...) Looks like Shiri and I posted pretty much the same idea at about the same time. A fair amount of planning will be necessary but this is very doable.
