Gray is lot more realistic than bright yellow!  :-)

Somewhat, I guess.  A lot of castles were built with sandstone, and while tan is
the closest match, it wasn't introduced until 1997, IIRC, which would put it
just a bit too late to be used in any of the European-style Castle sets.  Yellow
was the closest match available...assuming they were going for the sandstone
look.

Sandstone was more of a construction material in the Middle East than Europe.
However, most weathered stone is a lot "warmer" (yellow, orange, red) than
standard issue Old Gray (and New Gray is actually shifted to the cool end of the
spectrum).

I wouldn't mind a castle in one of the "sand" colors.

Ah, a sandcastle!  ;P  Yeah, actually some of the sand colors (most notably tan
and sand red) are much more appropriate for many of the Western European
castles.

I have a friend who makes sand castles...wait...

Haha!  I didn't know that existed!  Boy, you can find anything on the web!

Anyway, yes, I agree, I'd like to see a tan or sand-red castle.

Or even a properly done white-washed castle.

White castle walls weren't always the result of white-wash or paint, were they?

Plaster or paint, usually.  I've seen pictures of one with a fairly light
natural stone that was close to white - but judging by photos can be deceptive
depending on the light.  White stone worth building a castle out of has to be
pretty darn rare.  It was common to white-wash castles during the middle ages,
in any case.

As we said in the computer gaming industry: MOTS (More Of The Same).

Oh, that's a gimme, especially since they probably already have 2005 KK sets in
the development process.  But that doesn't mean they can't introduce a different
Castle sub-theme in the next few years.  Besides, as with BIONICLE, they'll
probably have to either update the five main characters, or add new ones in
subsequent years to help keep the story going.

I'm not judging by the particular release alone, but by the slide in this
direction in general over several releases.  I don't think they'll will suddenly
do an about face and go back to the Crusader/Black Knights/Black Falcons style
that was the pinnacle of Lego Castles.  But I'd rather have some Castles than
none.

I'm sure we'll have a new shield template for making stickers as soon as
possible.

I keep forgetting about the new tower shield...

I don't care for the designs they have on the shield, but I think they can be
drafted as Roman shields, or crossbowman's pavise.
