The rule of thumb is that when you see two different versions and only one of
them uses completely new pieces, the one that doesn't is just a preliminary
model that's put together while they wait for prototypes of the new pieces.
Also, when they actually get around to doing a packaging mock-up, it usually
means they've got photos of the final version to work with, since there's very
little value in doing one with the wrong model. Expect to see the box-art
versions on the store shelves.

Don't bet on it. The characters from the minifig version are probably supposed
to be the same ones as the five megafigs, so they'd likely have the exact same
color schemes. Of course, one of those guys has black armor, which is a
somewhat more traditional color (well, for the visor at least). Also, now that
they have a new visor and sword design, you might see them show up in different
colors down the road.
