Re: ldraw based import parts —Darrell Urbien
(...) Very nice parts! I teach a class in 3D CAD at a Community College in California, and I have had my students model a LEGO dragster for a few semesters now. As LDraw gets better and better with the additions of applications like LPub and LSynth, (...) (21 years ago, 17-Mar-03, to lugnet.cad)

Re: ldraw based import parts —Darrell Urbien
(...) OK, cool; I might even make one of my students do it! LOL. But again, be aware we won't even be starting again until the Fall - August 2003...California's budget crisis has meant we had to cut a bunch of classes (including the one that was (...)           Re: ldraw based import parts —Thomas Burger
(...) ok thanks darrell. if you, or anyone else really likes these parts i make, i have added a feedback form page (testing it anyway) at www.geocities.com/tb...dback.html my next 3 choices for kits are: drift kit : example (URL) kit : example (...)          Re: ldraw based import parts —Gregory J. Overkamp
(...) *cut* (...) Yeah, accurate cars are hard to model at minifig scale, but i tried. Actually i only gave actual names to the first batch, then just gave them names like racetruck- generic names are much more fitting. Now i moved to tuning (...) (21 years ago, 19-Mar-03, to lugnet.cad)

Re: ldraw based import parts —Darrell Urbien
(...) Hello Gregory, I agree, the shape of automobiles is hard to selectively compress in scale and still be "recognizable" as their full scale counterparts. I get the feeling it would almost be easier to model in microfig because you could get away (...) (21 years ago, 19-Mar-03, to lugnet.cad)

Re: ldraw based import parts —Gregory J. Overkamp
I didn't take it as a "slam" but i appreciate the message. You might have actually noticed i cleaned up the folder a little bit, deleted some of the older cars. Two reasons for this- one there are a lot more models coming, after all i just got bunch (...) (21 years ago, 19-Mar-03, to lugnet.cad)

Re: ldraw based import parts —Darrell Urbien
Hi Thomas, are you still around?? I think I'm finally going to be able to prototype some of these parts for you, and I had a few questions: Re: 42440 Is this a lowered chassis? Or is it the same as combining four 2x3 plates and two 2x2s with axles? (...) (20 years ago, 16-Jul-04, to lugnet.cad)

Re: ldraw based import parts —Darrell Urbien
(...) OK, apparently Thomas has left the building.. I made a bunch of his parts, and now I'm attempting to make some of Gregory Overkamp's MOCs. I'm having problems identifying some of the parts. For example, in:(URL), there appears to be a canopy (...) (20 years ago, 2-Aug-04, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

Re: ldraw based import parts —Gregory J. Overkamp
(...) You seem to have linked the same picture twice, so i'm not sure which part you are referring to in terms of the rear canopy. As for the second piece, I modified 6238 to reduce it by one stud length and created a new piece from this. Some (...) (20 years ago, 6-Aug-04, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

Re: ldraw based import parts —Darrell Urbien
(...) Whoops! I meant (URL) The Toyota Paseo. (...) LOL. I thought the only "custom" parts were Tom's; I spent a week making his parts on an RP machine... only to be foiled by your custom parts! Oh well. I ended up modifying some of your designs (...) (20 years ago, 6-Aug-04, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

Re: ldraw based import parts —Gregory J. Overkamp
(...) First, the rear hatch is part 4858 on peeron (see (URL) just in transparent blue. Of course lego doesnt make the wedge in transparent colors, but thats the beauty of ldraw. Yes, I actually made a few custom parts, some of them modified or (...) (20 years ago, 7-Aug-04, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

(...) Those are really cool! Thanks for sharing them. If I, as a small hobbyist, wanted to make a batch of parts in this way, what would my options be?          Re: My Big Phat RP Parts —Darrell Urbien

         Rollin' on '20s —Darrell Urbien
